Interior design student Jelly Tan has just returned to her hometown after a semester of study at the University of Sydney, Australia. Jelly is one of the winners of the IISMA (Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards) 2023, organized by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia through Kemendikbudristek. The IISMA program itself is one of so many programs to support Merdeka Learning on Mildeka Campus, where winners in this program will get the opportunity to pursue a semester of study at one of the best universities of choice in the world.

Jelly Tan’s struggle to become an IISMA 2023 award winner was not easy. Jelly even suffered a failure when she first attended Iisma in 2022. Nevertheless, this 2020 force student admitted not to give up to pursue her dream of studying at one of the best universities in the world, the University of Sydney.

According to Jelly, one of the reasons he so wanted to attend the IISMA program was because of the opportunity to learn new science outside of the college major he is currently taking and to experience the teaching experience at the best campus in the world while introducing Indonesia to the world community. To other students who want to take IISMA, Jelly also shared the stages that he had to face until he finally passed as a winner. Among other documents submitted is the collection of file requirements such as essays and EPT (English Proficiency Test) results, then an interview test, a challenge test, and finally being declared passed.

In the end, Jelly Tan did not forget to thank the campus where she is currently studying, Prodi Interior Design, the Faculty of Art and Design  Universitas Trisakti. Jelly revealed that the university, from the Chief of the Study Program to the lecturer, has been giving him a lot of encouragement even since he failed last year. Whenever he escapes, the study program is at the forefront to help him prepare all the documents needed to handle the visa and other needs.
